DinTaiFung

DinTaiFung

The celebrated DinTaiFung (鼎泰豐) restaurant, ranked one of the world’s top ten restaurants in 1993 by The New York Times. I decided this would be the must try restaurant in Taipei.

Steamed Pork Dumplings

Steamed Pork Dumplings

The steamed pork dumplings (小籠包) is the signature dish of DinTaiFung and it lived up to my expectation as the best dish in DinTaiFung. This freshly steamed dumplings came in ten pieces in a bamboo basket. The best way to savor this dish is to pierce a tiny hole at the top of the dumpling, suck out the soup, put some ginger and vinegar on it and eat!

Fried Rice with Shrimp and Egg

Fried rice with shrimp and egg (蝦仁蛋炒飯) was equally good with generous amount of bouncy shrimps.

Taipei Trip

Friday, October 24th, 2008

After a hectic week, I’m off to Taipei tomorrow. Just have my travel documents printed and clothes packed. I haven’t put much effort into planning this trip. dd did much of the planning, while I’m in charge of finding restaurants, stay and transportation. Flight will be on 940am, MAS airlines. We need to wake up as early as 6am to catch a taxi to airport. Ok, signing off now. :-D

Gum Infection

Monday, October 6th, 2008

My gum is badly infected after eating salmon sashimi last weekend. It’s swollen since yesterday and upon checking its condition, it appears that part of the gum around molar is receding! Sigh, I must go to see dentist tomorrow.

Besides, I have been smoking for over six years. Smoking increases the risk of gum disease and my bad gum condition is most probably caused by years of smoking. It’s time to completely quit smoking before it’s too late. Today is the second day I have not taken a puff, fear of having nasty mouth disease like this certainly has some effects on quit smoking.
